Moved by the plight of mishap victims which they capture with cameras as part of their duty, photojournalists donated blood here on Tuesday on the occasion of World Photography Day.

Media Cameramen Association (MCA) President V. Nageswara Rao said “we decided to chip in with our contributions moved by the plight of trauma patients.”

In all, 30 units of blood were collected from lensmen and other volunteers by the blood bank attached to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, said Society for Training and Employment Promotion (STEP) CEO B. Ravi.

It was a visual treat for Prakasam district Collector G.S.R.K.R. Vijaykumar, former MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy and hundreds of schoolchildren who had a chance to view some of the best moments captured by photojournalists on various occasions, at an exhibition organised at the Ambedkar Bhavan here.

‘Mana Prakasam,’ a compilation of pictures to highlight the best of Prakasam district by The Hindu lensman Kommuri Srinivas was released on the occasion.

The Collector exhorted photojournalists to highlight various social issues.

Additional Superintendent of Police K. Rama Naik said pictures taken by lensmen provided vital clues to achieve breakthrough in criminal cases.
