Condoling the demise of the former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on Thursday, Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan described him as a great visionary, a statesman par excellence, a great orator, a poet and, above all, a great human being.
He stated that Mr. Vajpayee would be remembered as an astute leader, who upheld the democratic traditions and values.
“In his passing away, the nation has lost a great leader, administrator, and a wonderful human being,” Mr. Narasimhan observed.
BJP State president Kanna Lakshminarayana, Rajya Sabha member G.V.L. Narasimha Rao and other party leaders condoled the death of Mr. Vajpayee.
Floral tributes were paid to the departed leader at the State BJP office here. Candles were lit as a mark of respect to the man, who had been president of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, which later on metamorphosed into the BJP, and successfully steered the nation through some very turbulent times as the Prime Minister.
BJP State general secretaries J. Syam Kishore and V. Satya Murthy, BJYM State president N. Ramesh Naidu and others were present.
End of an era: Jagan
YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said Mr. Vajpayee’s passing away marked the end of an era in Indian politics, and the fact that he won the hearts of critics too proved how great a man he was. Mr. Vajpayee had set a shining example of how a Member of Parliament should behave in the House, and the manner in which he espoused his values was worth emulating.
Selfless leader: Pawan
Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan said Mr. Vajpayee’s determination and efforts for transforming India into a nuclear power were commendable. It was because of the testing of the nukes during his regime that the enemies stood at a distance.
Mr. Vajpayee was a selfless politician, a multilingual poet, and had many other facets, which made him a leader India would never forget, Mr. Pawan stated. CPI State secretary K. Ramakrishna said Mr. Vajpayee used to take the opposition parties into confidence when he was the PM.
