The case of land grabbing allegedly involving the followers of central MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao came to the fore again on Wednesday as a citizen approached the city police alleging that the land grabbers owed ₹35 lakh to him.

Leela Subramanyam approached Joint Commissioner of Police Kanthi Rana Tata alleging that Maganti Babu, accused in the case of encroaching land belonging to the freedom fighters association, owed him the money and had promised to give 600 square yards of the encroached property.

Mr. Subramanyam also complained that Mr. Babu and his men were threatening him with dire consequences if he continued to ask for compensation. The MLA’s wife was allegedly one of the accused.

Both the MLA and Mr. Babu denied the allegations and sought a thorough inquiry.
