Kumbh Mela to end today

The ongoing Kumbh Mela at Triveni Sangam in T. Narsipur is expected to draw many devotees with the once-in-a-three-year event drawing to a close on Tuesday.

Thousands of devotees were expected to take the holy dip at the confluence of Cauvery, Kapila and Spathika Sarovar between 9.15 a.m. and 11.45 a.m. Many Sadhus have landed at the town for Tuesday’s ‘Punya Snana’ (Sacred Bath).

Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, who arrived in Mysuru on Monday evening, told reporters that he would participating in the Kumbh Mela on Monday evening as well as on Tuesday morning. He said he was participating in the Ganga Puja and Deeparathi programme scheduled to be held later in the evening at the Sangama, and also in Tuesday’s events.

The district administration has set aside an area at the river confluence for dignitaries who wish to take holy dip on Tuesday.

Minister in-charge of Mysuru district G.T. Deve Gowda said the mela, which began in 1989, has been organised in a grand manner this time.
