In the light of increased emphasis on skill development and employee welfare, the Krishnapatnam Port management has initiated several steps that brought it laurels in the area of employee welfare and corporate social responsibility.

The government has conferred the port with the Best Management Award for Employee Welfare for 2014.

Krishnapatanm Port Chief Operating Officer S, Subba Rao received the award from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at a function during the May Day celebrations in Rajahmundry recently.

Stating that the award was received for the port’s exemplary welfare activities in the past few years, Mr. Subba Rao said that the Chief Minister appreciated the port management for its pro-employee and youth activities. “KPCL has set up several training institutes for youth,” said Mr. Subba Rao. Krishnapatnam Port has been actively taking up medical, educational, food and accommodation facilities for its employees. Besides, measures were initiated to ensure the professional and personal growth of employees, adding that new opportunities were being created by organising training programmes to update the staff on modern techniques and systems.

Several training organisations have been set up to impart necessary skillset among local youth to make them ready for jobs in industries. These included a Security Training Academy, a Motor Driving Academy, a Professional Training Academy (environment, health and safety diploma and fire fighting diploma) and a Welding Training Institute.

The KPCL has started an English medium school at Muthukur where quality education is being provided to the children of local fishermen.
