Korean national dies in road accident in Anantapur district

A Korean national Min Kyoungyun (39) died in a road accident near Kodikonda in Anantapur district when the car in which they were travelling, turned turtle in the early hours of Wednesday.

Chilamathur Sub-Inspector of Police K. Dharani Babu told The Hindu that at 2.40 a.m.. three Korean nationals working at a Korean Guest House — Yong catering to employees of KIA Motors India and its ancillary units, were travelling from Bengaluru Airport to their temporary residence in Palasamudram in the district.

The driver of the car, Kesava Naik, lost control over the vehicle and it turned turtle near Rexa Academy on National Highway No. 44 at Kodikonda.

The Sub-Inspector said it was a straight stretch of road and overspeeding by the driver caused the accident in which Naik and Min were injured and shifted to Government Hospital at Kodikonda. Min sustained injuries from the broken glass pane of the vehicle as it fell on its side, the SI added.

They were later shifted to Columbia Asia Hospital in Bengaluru for better treatment and the Korean national succumbed to injuries at the hospital.

The other two Korean nationals and the driver are said to be safe and out of danger. Employed by Bestech A&D Co. Ltd. Min was a regular visitor to Anantapur district since August 2018.
