All actions of Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao have resulted in bringing disrepute to the august post, former Minister and YSRCP leader C. Ramachandraiah has alleged. The Speaker, who should protect the rights of the members of the Legislative Assembly, stifled the voice of the Opposition in the House, Mr. Ramachandraiah alleged while addressing the media at Lotus Pond, the headquarters of the YSRCP, in Hyderabad on Thursday.

‘Dark period’

Mr. Ramachandraiah said Dr. Rao’s tenure as Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly was a dark period in the history of the State.

All activities of the Assembly were converted into programmes of the Telugu Desam Party, he alleged.

YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy went to the people because there was no justice in the Assembly with Dr. Rao in the Chair, Mr. Ramachandraiah said. The “atrocities” committed by Dr. Rao were not a secret, he said. The Speaker was talking as though he was infallible.

Great leaders such as Indira Gandhi and NTR were defeated, Mr. Ramachandraiah recalled.
