Kadiri Urban Circle Inspector Gorantla Madhav, who had made certain controversial remarks against Anantapur Member of Parliament J.C. Diwakar Reddy during the Prabhodananda Ashram issue at Tadipatri, has submitted his resignation letter to Kadiri Deputy Superintendent of Police Sree Lakshmi.

Talking to the media, Mr. Madhav said he decided to join politics to serve the people better. Hailing from Kurnool district, who belongs to the Backward Classes, said the community needed more support.

Rumours

Meanwhile, rumours were flying thick and fast that he would join the YSR Congress Party and get the party ticket to contest from the Hindupur Lok Sabha constituency.

Mr. Madhav, however, refused to divulge the party he would join.

“I discussed my plans with my family members and will meet the Superintendent of Police to convey my decision,” he said.

Mr. Madhav, also an office-bearer of the Police Employees’ Association, had taken objection to Mr. Diwakar Reddy’s comments on the police personnel’s behaviour during the Prabhodhananda Swamy Ashram issue.

Ms. Sree Lakshmi told The Hindu that he submitted a representation on Saturday, but she was yet to look into it as she was away from the headquarters. With regard to acceptance of resignation, she said the government has to take the final decision.
