Motorists will now have to think twice about jumping the lights as violations can now be captured automatically with foolproof evidence that cannot be challenged in court.
iRIDS (Intelligent Red Light Violation Identification System), developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), is a state-of-the-art device that captures images and videos of red light violations with the help of vehicle sensors, cameras, and controller hardware installed at busy road intersections.
The iRIDS, installed at the Keltron junction here and ready after trials, was unveiled at a workshop on ‘Role of intelligent transport system in road safety’ organised by the National Transportation Planning and Research Centre (Natpac) on Wednesday.
