JNTU-K scam probe to begin tomorrow

The three-member committee appointed by Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to probe the alleged scam of Rs.120 crore in the JNTU-Kakinada, in which former Vice-Chancellor G. Tulasi Ramdas, Registrar Prasada Raju and Director of Evaluation Saibabu and others were allegedly involved, will begin enquiry from Monday.

CPI State Secretary P. Naryana had met the Governor and submitted a memorandum on the alleged scam in which one private firm-Globerena technologies, a learning and assessment company floated by former Vice-Chancellor’s brother, was involved. The Governor’s committee includes Narasimha Rao, vice-chairman of AP Higher Education Council and former Professor of Nagarjuna University, Prof. Srinivasa Rao, Computer Science, Andhra University and Prof. Rangaiah, Law Department, Nagarjuna University.

According to sources, the committee will reach Kakinada on Monday morning and meet the present Vice-Chancellor Prof. V.S.S. Kumar and then examine the files from 2011 to the end of 2014 and question the officials involved in the scam. The sources said that the committee also summoned the representatives of the Globerena technologies, learning and assessment firm.

Meanwhile, ABVP All India Council member Ch. Manikanta said the JNTU-K signed an agreement with the Globarenaand paid Rs.150 for automation of evaluation of answer-sheet,
