YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday accused the State government of running a “mafia” in the name of Janmabhoomi Committees in every village.

On the 27th day of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra, Mr. Reddy started from Gooty town in the district and proceeded to Peddavadugur mandal headquarters village, where he addressed a public meeting along with party district leaders.

Mr. Reddy accused the government of proliferating corruption in every village and every walk of life through the Janmabhoomi Committees, which, he said, were aimed at ensuring that only TDP leaders were helped by the government.

“There is no law and order in the State. Justice is not prevailing. The TDP government is not even leaving temple lands (from corruption). On the other hand, power bills are delivering a shock to the consumers,” the Opposition leader said.

Mr. Reddy ridiculed Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s plans to open malls at villages in the place of ration shops and said that this was an attempt at water down the public distribution system.
