Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will address public meetings in three Assembly constituencies a day till March 24 and later four a day by helicopter.

YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will begin his election campaign at the auspicious time of 10.26 a.m. from Idupulapaya in Kadapa district on March 16. He will also release the first list of candidates for the general elections.

General secretary Talasila Raghuram told the media at the party headquarters in Hyderabad on Wednesday that Mr. Jagan would pay tributes to his father and former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy at his memorial in Idupulapaya.

He would then go by helicopter to Piduguralla village in the Gurazala Assembly constituency in Guntur district and address the first election meeting.

He would address public meetings in three Assembly constituencies a day till March 24 and later cover four a day by helicopter, Mr Raghuram said.

Within the constituency, he would move around in a bus. His mother and party honorary president Y.S. Vijayamma and sister Y.S. Sharmila would also campaign with him.

Manifesto

The prime objective of the campaign was to share details of the manifesto and ask the electorate to vote for their candidate, Mr Raghuram said. He said 90% of the Assembly constituency coordinators would be given the ticket and 70 to 80% of the candidates would be announced in the first list itself. Mr. Jagan touched 134 constituencies while on his Praja Sankalpa Yatra.

Earlier the party announced that the first list of about 100 candidates would be released on Wednesday morning but it was postponed to March 16 because it missed the muhurtum due to the heavy rush of leaders joining the party at the time, he said.
