Notwithstanding the political furore caused by his remarks against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, YSR Congress Party president and Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy reiterated during a road show in Nandyal constituency on Friday that “it is not wrong to hang people like Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu who utter lies and fail to keep up their promises.”

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy repeated the remark for the second successive day while addressing people at Poluru village in Nandyal mandal before winding up the road show on the third day of the campaign.

Earlier, speaking during the road show at Chapirevula in Nandyal mandal, he promised to develop Nandyal constituency on a par with Pulivendula represented by him. Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy asserted that the byelection verdict should be the people’s judgment against the three-and-a-half-year rule of Mr. Naidu and not merely voting to elect an MLA.

‘Naidu overconfident’

Mr. Jagan said the State government had never bothered about development of Nandyal but the entire State Cabinet was stationed in the constituency for influencing the byelection.

He charged Mr. Naidu with being overconfident that he could do anything with money power, though social justice eluded all sections of people. The people’s vote should usher in a change in State politics, he asserted.

The people were vexed and would state that they did not need a leader like Mr. Naidu, Mr. Jagan said at Pandurangapuram.

The system would not change if Mr. Naidu’s ‘betrayal of the people’ was ignored, he said.

He promised irrigation water for two crops under KC Canal, completion of the Gundrevula project and explore the scope for taking up the Siddheswaram weir. He urged the people to vote for ceiling fan, the symbol of the YSRC.

Mr. Jagan staged a road show at Kranthinagar and Udumalapuram and urged the people to vote for party candidate Silpa Mohan Reddy.
