Jagan promises total prohibition

YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday said he would go in for prohibition of alcohol once he comes to power. He was interacting with women at Kistipaadu village.

Responding to the problems of a group of women over alcohol-addicted husbands leading to financial and health problems, Mr. Jagan said alcohol would be prohibited once the “people’s government” of the YSRCP comes to power.

Mr. Jagan said the TDP government was considering alcohol merely as a source of revenue while it actually amounted to doing business with the ‘blood and flesh’ of the people.

“Alcohol consumption is one of the main reasons for the deteriorating financial and health conditions of lakhs of families in the State. The income derived from spoiling lives of lakhs of people wouldn’t augur well for anyone, let alone for a government,” said Mr. Jagan.

On the 12th day of the Prajasankalpa Yatra in the Kurnool district, speaking at the public meeting held in the Banaganapalle mandal headquarters village, he said the current dispensation had defaulted on all its promises while he would implement every word of the YSRCP manifesto and the ‘Nava Ratnalu’ promises.

“Everytime he [Mr. Naidu] opens his mouth, he talks about his vision for 2022, 2029 and 2050. His age is currently 70 years. He will be 80 in 2029. I wouldn’t hazard a guess what his age will be in 2050. Tell us what you are doing and will be doing today, not in 2029 and 2050. What will you call a man who promises to lay a road in 2029?” he asked adding that the State government was cheating people by presenting them with mere vision and no work on the ground at all.

Mr. Jagan would rest for the day at Banaganapalle village.
