The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has planned to launch three satellites of the Disaster Monitoring Constellation for the United Kingdom-based Surrey Satellite Technology Limited (SSTL) on July 10.

The satellites — DMC 1, 2 and 3 — would be launched onboard a PSLV from the first launch pad of Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota on July 10 and the launch window was being worked out, a senior ISRO official told The Hindu .

ISRO’s commercial arm Antrix Corporation had, in February last year, signed a services agreement with DMC International Imaging (DMCii) of the SSTL for the launch of these satellites.

As regards the status of the ISRO’s Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), which has been facing a blackout since June 8, the official said the spacecraft has been on an autonomous mode and would take decisions on its own till normality was expected to return on June 22.
