Mr. Jayasuryaprakash Reddy, son of former Chief Minister Kotla Vijayabhaskara Reddy, turned furious and returned to Kurnool in a huff after the SPG personnel refused entry to him.

Irate Congressmen locked the District Congress Committee office in Kurnool in the early hours of Wednesday angered at security personnel denying entry to former Union Minister of State for Railways Kotla Jayasuryaprakash Reddy into the venue of the public meeting addressed by AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday at Bandlapalli in Anantapur District.

Mr. Jayasuryaprakash Reddy, son of former Chief Minister Kotla Vijayabhaskara Reddy, turned furious and returned to Kurnool in a huff after the SPG personnel refused entry to him by checking a list of important party leaders invited to the public meeting, despite the former Union Minister revealing his identity.

While the Congress MLC M. Sudhakar Babu, who was inside the public meeting venue remained there, Kurnool DCC president B.Y. Ramaiah and partymen who went in several cars, returned to Kurnool along with the former Minister.

Mr. Ramaiah condemned the adamant attitude of the SPG personnel towards a senior Congress leader.

On being informed about the incident, A.P. Congress Committee President N. Raghuveera Reddy was said to have checked the list with the security personnel, wherein Mr. Jayasuryaprakash Reddy’s name figured as KJSP Reddy.

The PCC chief tried to call Mr. Jayasuryaprakash Reddy on his mobile, but he did not respond. Mr. Raghuveera Reddy was said to have called up Mr. Ramaiah and said he would visit Kurnool in a couple of days and hold discussions with Mr. Jayasuryaprakash Reddy, in a bid to pacify him.

Knowing about the insult meted out to Mr. Reddy, irate Congressmen locked the DCC office and the main gate on Tuesday night. Mediapersons who went to the Congress office on Wednesday, were greeted by locks put on the main gate and the DCC office and the tubelight continued to glow in the foreyard even on Wednesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Mr. Jayasuryaprakash Reddy told newsmen in his native village, Laddagiri, that he was hurt by the shabby treatment by the SPG personnel. He however, denied speculation that he planned to quit Congress and join a different party.
