Interpol alert likely against nursing scam accused

June 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - KOCHI:

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will try to get the Interpol to issue a red corner notice against M.V. Varghese, alias Uthup Varghese, owner of Al Zarafa Travels and Manpower Consultants, who is wanted in connection with the multi-crore nurses’ recruitment scam.

The investigation agency is learned to be going ahead with the formalities to get the notice issued in another few days, which investigators believe will help them get hold of the elusive accused who is reportedly in Kuwait.

Interpol issues the red corned notice after getting the nod of the Union Home Ministry.

Though the accused had agreed to appear before the CBI if given an assurance that he would not be arrested, the agency rejected it on the ground that the investigation is never carried out at the mercy of the accused.

The CBI opted to go for the red corner notice after the accused declined to appear for interrogation. Apart from the CBI, the I-T Department and the Enforcement Directorate are also conducting investigations against the accused in connection with the case, which runs into over Rs.200 crore.
