Excise and B.C. Welfare Minister K. Ravindra has promised weavers to offer 10 per cent subsidy on yarn. The Minister on Sunday distributed handloom equipment to eligible weavers after laying foundation stone for construction of a building of the Devala Maharshi Weavers’ Co-operative Society at Kappaladoddi in Krishna district. “The Central government will introduce a new insurance scheme, exclusively covering all the people engaged in weaving industry,” said Mr. Ravindra. The Minister said the State government would soon release Rs. 110 crore for loan waiver as against the total loan waiver of Rs. 163 crore in the State.
