India is on the path of robust growth with the pace of growth increasing to the next plane every 10 years, said Kenji Uchino, Director of International Centre for Actuators and Transducers at Pennsylvania State University in the US.
Prof. Uchino was addressing the 34th annual convocation of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL) at Puttaparthi on Sunday. Prof. Uchino, one of the pioneers in development of ‘piezoelectric actuators’, said four important factors defined parameters of growth—cooperation, protection, reduction and continuation. He said global politics would determine the future course of technologies and students should gear up to face challenges of a fast-changing and a demanding world. “I grew up in Hiroshima in the nuclear bomb disaster area and have worked as a professor for almost 40 years in Japan and China,” he said, adding that ‘econo’ politics will be the driver of various technologies in future. Chancellor of the University, Justice M.N. Venkatachaliah presented the degrees to students after the convocation was formally declared open using the voice of Sathya Sai Baba through the speakers.
Minister for Information Technology Palle Raghunatha Reddy was also present on the occasion besides Vice- Chancellor of SSSIHL Prof. K.B.R. Verma and the faculty of SSSIHL.
