Include Naidu in ACB probe: Jagan

YSRC president submits memorandum to Governor

June 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 10:32 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly and president of YSR Congress Party Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy on Tuesday wanted the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to include the name of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in the note-for-vote case involving TDP MLA A. Revanth Reddy.

Mr. Reddy along with several party leaders called on Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum in this regard. In the memorandum, he said: The leader who was arrested by the ACB sleuths went on record stating that he was acting as per the instructions of his Boss.

Observing that it was a classic case of corruption at the highest level in the TDP and the huge amount involved in the deal shows the extent to which party leadership could stoop for the sake of a single vote.

“Unless there is a clear nod from the leadership, the clogs of the machine will not move and it is imperative for the law enforcing authorities to find out the source of the money, which is a whopping amount, and the origin from where it has flown in,” it said.

Derides Naidu

Later talking to reporters, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy said he was surprised by Mr. Naidu’s statement that it was a political conspiracy.

He said the video clippings have clearly shown the TDP MLA carrying the money and handing over it.

Alleging that corruption is taking place unabated at the highest level in Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Reddy sought Mr. Naidu be made prime accused in the case.

Other charges

Other instances of alleged corruption mentioned by him include the tenders called for Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme, barites mining, PPAs entered into with power producers, release of industrial incentives of over Rs.2,000 crore, among others.

He brushed aside TDP’s criticism of YSR Congress for extending support to TRS in the Council elections and said it was confined only to the polls.
