June 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:57 am IST - TIRUPATI:

A person was caught red-handed while impersonating a student during the Sri Venkateswara University Research Entrance Test (SVU RESET) at Sri Padmavati Women’s Degree College here on Thursday.

According to police, the accused, K. Siddaiah, with mediation by one Hari, agreed to write the exam on behalf of J. Ananda Rao. Though he managed to enter the exam venue with the hall ticket, Siddaiah was caught red-handed by the examiner as he signed the attendance sheet in his name instead of that of Ananda Rao. Police registered a case under Section 419 of IPC (Impersonation) and AP Public Exams Act of 1997 (Prevention of Malpractices and Unfair Means Act). They are in search of Hari and Ananda Rao, who are absconding.
