Chief Secretary L.V. Subrahmanyam administered the oath of office to newly-appointed Information Commissioner Ilapuram Raja at the Secretariat on Wednesday.

On the occasion, Mr. Subrahmanyam enquired about the nature of petitions being received by the State Information Commission and other issues. He said that the commissioners should hold interactive sessions, particularly with the officers concerned of those departments to which most of the petitions were related, to sort out the matters in a smooth and expeditious manner. Concerted efforts should be made to implement the Right to Information Act in letter and spirit as people have the right to know about government schemes and programmes, Mr. Subrahmanyam exhorted the commissioners.

Secretary (General Administration) N. Srikant, Information Commissioners M. Ravi Kumar and K. Janardhan were present.
