IIT Tirupati all set to begin classes from Aug. 5

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) - Tirupati will start functioning from August 5 in a temporary campus housed at Krishna Theja Educational Institutions in Chadalawada Nagar on the outskirts of the temple city, said K.N. Satyanarayana, Professor-In-Charge of IIT Tirupati. Interacting with the media here on Thursday, Mr. Satyanarayana spoke on the ongoing developments and temporary arrangements of the premier institute, including the faculty and infrastructure support. “Arrangements are in place for the commencement of classes, along with the hostel and lab facilities, and will be completed in the third week of July. The new institution, which would be mentored by IIT Madras, will have some of the most experienced and senior faculty,” he added. Mr. Satyanarayana further said that the new IIT would accommodate 120 students, for the current academic year, equally divided amongst four main branches such as Computer Science, Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. The hostel facility for boys has been arranged at 21st Century Gurukul, a few yards away from Alipiri, the foothills of Tirumala, whereas girls can avail the facility at the temporary campus itself.
