Assuring the people of Bhimavaram that the town would be developed into a world-class city, Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan said on Friday that had a clear vision to develop it on all fronts and ensure a pollution-free environment.

Addressing a public meeting before filing his nomination papers for the Assembly constituency, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said, “I do not know what has been done to this constituency by those who have represented it in the Assembly all these years. Given a chance, I will develop it into a city of international standards for the benefit of the future generations.”

Besides Bhimavaram, the Jana Sena Party president is contesting for the Assembly from Gajuwaka in Visakhapatnam district.

Mr. Pawan Kalyan arrived in Bhimavaram from Vijayawada by a special chopper, addressed the public and participated in a roadshow too.

‘Not here for money’

Making it clear that he had no barrier such as caste, creed and religion, he said his entry into politics was not to earn money but to do some good to society.

“People of Telangana are under the impression that the residents of the Godavari districts are affluent as there is no dearth of natural resources here. The ground reality presents a contrasting picture. Environmental pollution is a major challenge here. Its impact is so severe that groundwater too is contaminated,” he said.

Mr. Pawan Kalyan recalled his association with the district and the town, and urged people to elect him as their representative in the elections.

Former Chief Secretary to the Government of Tamil Nadu P. Rammohan Rao was among others who accompanied Mr. Pawan Kalyan to the tahasildar office, where he filed his nomination papers.
