Highway ‘robbers’ arrested in Nellore

The police on Wednesday morning arrested four persons of a gang for allegedly robbing truck drivers of valuables and cash on the Chennai-Kolkata highway.

Speaking to reporters, Nellore Deputy Superintendent of Police N.B.M. Muralikrishna said Srinivasulu, Balavardhan, Anil and Ramadevi were nabbed near the Sundaraiah colony bridge on the highway as they were moving there suspiciously. Anil’s autorickshaw was seized and ₹3,000 in cash and a silver bracelet and a ring were recovered from them. Ramadevi used to lure drivers to accompany her to a secluded place while the others looted at knife point those in trucks, said the DSP, investigating a case registered on a complaint by B.Sivaji from Khammam in Telangana.
