Cyclone Warning Centre cautions fishermen

The cyclonic storm ‘Gaja’ is very likely to intensify further into a severe one during the next 24 hours. The system will cross the Tamil Nadu coast between Cuddalore and Pamban as a cyclonic storm during November 15 forenoon.

Heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in Prakasam and Nellore districts of south coastal A.P. on November 14.

Heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in Prakasam and Nellore districts and at isolated places in Chittoor and Kadapa districts of Rayalaseema on November 15.Light to moderate rain or thunder showers is very likely to occur at some places over the rest of A.P. during the same period, according to the IMD. Under the influence of the cyclonic storm, strong surface winds from a north easterly direction, with speed reaching 45 to 55 km per hour are likely along and off coastal AP.

The sea condition is likely to be rough to very rough along and off coastal AP from November 14 morning and high from November 14 night along and off south coastal A.P., according to the Cyclone Warning Centre (CWC) here. The CWC has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea along and off coastal AP. The Chief Minister asked Collectors of coastal districts to keep a close watch on the cyclone developing in the Bay of Bengal and be alert.
