A youth allegedly raped a 19-year-old speech and hearing impaired girl at Timminenipalem village in Chintakani mandal on Saturday.

According to sources, K. Naresh, 21, allegedly barged into the house of the girl when her parents were away in the afternoon. He allegedly locked the entrance door from inside and sexually assaulted the hapless girl.

A woman farmer, who was passing through the locality , grew suspicious when Naresh suddenly came out of the house. She raised an alarm and tried to stop him, but in vain.

A group of women, including a former elected representative of the gram panchayat, rushed to the spot on hearing her screams. However, Naresh allegedly pushed the woman and fled from the scene. The woman reportedly sustained minor bruises on her hands in the incident, sources added.

On their return from a nearby farm, the parents of the girl came to know about the incident and filed a complaint against Naresh at the Chintakani police station.

The girl has been shifted to the district headquarters hospital for medical examination, said Kumara Swamy, sub-inspector of police, Chintakani.
