The health conditions of people in Agency mandals in East Godavari district are stable and totally under control, said East Godavari Collector Karthikeya Mishra here on Thursday.

Addressing the media here on Thursday, he said that every effort was being made to provide medical care to the needy and medical teams from Gurthedu PHC were attending on people at Chaparai habitation for the last four days.

Sixty persons were shifted to hospitals at Rampachodavaram and Kakinada for better medical care and all were safe and being taken care of. Affected children will be kept under observance for another 15 days in the Kakinada Government Hospital and their families taken care of.

The Collector said that 50 cases of diarrhoea were reported from Rampachodavaram and Chinturu ITDAs and the medical teams immediately attended on them.

Multidisciplinary and multi-department teams were sent to Agency habitations with basic medicines. He said that of the 635 habitations, 570 were being visited by medical teams and they were providing all medical support to these families.

Health camps

He said that he had directed the Medical and Health Department to organize health camps wherever symptoms like fever or any health problem were reported from any hamlet. The Collector added that senior officers like district panchyat officer, project director, DRDA, were camping in these habitations to educate the people on safe food habits and safe drinking water as the tribal people were habituated to drinking water from streams and eating raw mutton.

Educating the people on using filtered and boiled water and creating awareness on keeping them away from superstitions was also going on in these habitations.

The Collector said that Boddagandi village covered 40 habitations and needed road connectivity and communication facility and these would be attended to soon. In regard to the incident at Chaparai habitation, PO of ITDA was asked to submit a factual report by conducting a detailed enquiry.

District Revenue Officer M. Jitendra and DPRO M. Francis also attended the press meet.
