Rajya Sabhamember G.V.L. Narasimha Rao submitted a breach of privilege notice to Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu on Monday urging him to exercise penal powers of the House against the Telugu Desam Party leaders for allegedly threatening him with dire consequences in the wake of his speech during the discussion on SCS and the National Investment and Manufacturing Zones on July 24.

Mr. Rao said TDP leaders Vemuri Ananda Surya, Eemani Surya Narayana and others issued a public threat at a press conference and it amounted to a violation of his privileges as a member of the RS. He argued that their statements were meant to impede his functioning in Parliament.
