Fourteen amenities at the railway station here will be developed at a cost of ₹ 11.25 crore.
The station is among 68 others identified by the Railways for a redevelopment programme.
On eastern side, the ceiling of platform no.1 would be improved, retiring rooms and dormitories would be upgraded and the parcel office would be relocated, according to a press release from D. Vasudeva Reddy, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Guntur.
Moreover, drinking water would be provided on all platforms and coach indication boards installed there. Lighting would be improved as well.
The car parking and the autorickshaw stand would be shifted farther from gates to allow easy movement of passengers. The parking zone would been divided into a four-wheeler premium parking area, a four-wheeler normal parking area and a two-wheeler parking area.
Two more pick-up and drop-off zones would be marked. Furthermore, the zones for two-wheelers and autorickshaws would be outside gate no. 2.
