Guntur: Bus trapped in canal, all rescued

As many as 25 passengers and two drivers of an Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) bus were trapped in an overflowing canal due to incessant rains, at Narsaraopet town, in Guntur district on Thursday. The district administration has rescued all the 27 persons.

According to APSRTC Guntur Regional Manager P.V. Rama Rao, the bus proceeding from Kurnool to Rajahmundry was trapped on the causeway while crossing Murugu Vaagu, which was overflowing near Narsaraopet bypass road in the early hours.

On receiving information, the Revenue, Fire, Police and RTC personnel rushed to the spot and saved the passengers with the help of a rope party, said Mr. Rao.
