With less than two weeks to go before the foundation stone laying ceremony for Amaravati, a dry patch of over 200 acres at Uddandarayunipalem is buzzing with activity.

While trucks carried loads of iron pipes and aluminium sheets, tractors ploughed away banana plantations, probably the lost crop in the region.

Farmers whiled away their time chattering under trees over future developments in a multi-cropped region. But, on ground zero, arrangements are in full swing. The State government, which is leaving no stone unturned to make the event a memorable one, has roped in two of the best event managers in the country, Mumbai-based Wizcraft and KMK Event Management Limited, to host the show.

An estimated 1.25 lakh people are expected to turn up at the venue. Apart from the main stage measuring 80 X 60 feet, separate galleries are being built for the most important persons, very important persons, elected representatives and the media.

“We are using imported pre-fabricated aluminium-made materials for building the stage. The entire material is being sourced from abroad, and we need just to fix it on the ground. The main stage will face the north-eastern direction,” said a representative of Wizcraft Event Managers. In addition to the main stage, the organisers are planning to build two more stages, PM’s lounge and separate lounges for most important persons and VIPs. Two separate entry points will be earmarked for those coming from Krishna and Guntur districts. The event managers have experience of hosting big shows attended by lakhs of people. They had managed the launch of Praja Rajyam Party in 2008.
