Enthused by the successful performance of heart surgeries in the Government General Hospital (GGH), Guntur, the State government has planned to scale up the public private partnership to offer best healthcare services to people, Special Chief Secretary of Medical Education L.V. Subramaniam said here on Saturday.

After inspecting the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences here, he told the media here that more than 80 heart surgeries had been performed in GGH so far. The PPP model would be replicated in other hospitals to improve healthcare in government hospitals. He also promised to sanction a blood cell separator machine for the RIMS and fully equip the presently dysfunctional blood bank in Markapur.

The government would go ahead with filling up of the vacant post of doctors in various government hospitals, he added.

He exhorted the District Medical Officers to take effective steps to bring down maternal and infant mortality rates and encourage pregnant women to opt for institutional deliveries.

Taking note of the incidence of dengue cases reported from the district, he suggested improvement of sanitation to prevent spreading of the vector-borne diseases.
