‘Govt. nod awaited for construction of mandapam’

October 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - TIRUPATI:

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Trust Board Chairman Chadalawada Krishnamurthy on Sunday said the TTD would take up construction of the Thousand Pillar Mandapam as soon as the State government zeroes down on one of the three building plans sent for approval.

“We have sent three proposals as designed by a Bengaluru-based consultancy and will take up construction based on the model selected by the government,” he said.

It may be recalled that the TTD had dismantled the mandapam in 2003 and could not take up the reconstruction owing to pilgrim rush.

Narayanagiri Gardens

Recently, Narayanagiri Gardens had been identified as an ideal place for constructing the mandapam and the board headed by Mr. Krishnamurthy was in the process of shortlisting another place for its construction.
