Government showers sops on contract employees

GoM fixes retirement age at 60, women to get 180 days maternity leave

The Group of Minister (GoM) on contractual employment headed by Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Thursday decided to give minimum time-scale to the employees in the Health, Medical and Family Welfare (HMFW) Department and to those working in universities, and degree and junior colleges. Women would be given 180 days maternity leave.

The retirement age would be raised from 58 to 60 years. Similarly, they would be given salary for all the months in a year instead of 10 at present. In all, 23,372 employees of the HMFW Department and 3,802 of the Higher Education Department would benefit. Ministers Ganta Srinivasa Rao and N.Md. Farooq, Intermediate Board Secretary B. Udaya Lakshmi and Special Commissioner of Collegiate Education Sujatha Sharma were among others present.

In a separate meeting the GoM headed by Mr. Ramakrishnudu allotted land measuring 97.35 acres to six institutions in Amaravati at a meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday.

The GoM allotted 80 acres to Saveetha Amaravati University, two acres to the Zoological Survey of India, 1.50 acres to the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission, one acre to the Andhra Pradesh Craft Council, 2.65 acres to the Young Men’s Christian Association and 10.20 acres to a cricket academy, a press release said.

Further, the GoM ordered that notices be served on the institutions that did not start its functions within the stipulated time of the allotment of land. Ministers P. Narayana, Mr. Srinivasa Rao and N. Ananda Babu; Special Chief Secretaries Aditya Nath Das (higher education), P. Malakondaiah (health), and M. Ravi Chandra (finance); Principal Secretary (CRDA) Ajay Jain were present.
