Relatives wait for news about those who went missing after the incident in I. Polavaram, Andhra Pradesh on Saturday.

Heavy rain coupled with high tide in the Bay of Bengal has been hampering the operations in the Gauthami river to rescue seven persons who went missing in the boat capsize that took place in Pasuvula Lanka in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday night.

The Andhra Pradesh and the Puducherry police, along with the help of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, are involved in the search operations.

“The high tide will continue till 2 p.m. Since the accident spot is close to the confluence point, high current is prevailing in the river. Though the search is going on, it may yield result only in the afternoon,” said Kartikeya Misra, East Godavari district Collector.
