Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan on Tuesday accused the State government of failing to do justice to the chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients of the Uddanam region in the district in spite of his efforts to bring doctors from the U.S. to find the exact reasons for its spread in the area. He also charged the government with not taking steps to appoint expert doctors and supply medicines to the patients free of cost.

Addressing a public meeting at Palasa as part of his ‘porata yatra’, Mr. Pawan Kalyan promised to do justice to the north Andhra region and improve healthcare facilities at the grassroots level if the JSP was voted to power in the 2019 elections.

The JSP president also promised to adopt policies that would benefit the coconut growers and workers of the cashew industry in the region.

Charge against MLA

Accusing Palasa MLA Gouthu Syam Sunder Sivaji and his son-in law Venkanna Chowdary of indulging in land grabbing and collecting “unofficial taxes” from the people, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said: “During the 2014 elections, TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu had said the YSRCP would resort to land grabbing if it was voted to power. But what is happening in Palasa now?”

“The high-handed behaviour of a TDP councillor had led to the suicide of a 19-year-old boy,” he charged.

“All these reflect the poor governance of the ruling TDP,” Mr. Pawan Kalyan said.

Claiming that Mr. Naidu could become Chief Minister because of the crucial support extended by the JSP, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said: “The TDP leaders say that the JSP has no political experience. If that is the case, why did they accept my support in the 2014 elections? This exposes the TDP’s double standards.”

Dig at NDA

“The NDA government has failed to establish major educational institutions in the region in the last four years. My party will take sincere steps for the development of the backward areas in the region if it is given a clear mandate. We will establish industries and reputed educational institutions in the region for its overall development,” he said.

Former municipal chairperson Kota Purnachandra Rao joined the JSP along with his supporters in the presence of Mr. Pawan Kalyan. Mr. Rao had serious differences with Mr. Sivaji.
