The Communist Party of India (CPI), the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Jana Sena Party launched Praja Chaitanya Yatra in Anantapur district on Sunday, appealing to people to give a chance to the new political combination to “restore democracy”.
Communist Party of India district secretary D. Jagadeesh, leading a rally from the Tadipatri Bus Stand in the city, said new ideas were needed in the administration as were new leaders, who would take up problems of people to the Vidhan Sabha.
The Praja Kootami had been organised to bring about a change in politics and provide an alternative in the coming elections, said Mr. Jagadeesh, addressing a gathering at the Bus Stand before flagging off the rally.
Elected leaders were using their positions for amassing wealth and status in society. The Telugu Desam Party and the YSR Congress Party were same in this regard, he alleged.
Candidates of both the parties were spending about ₹10 crore per constituency and their motive was to recover back the amount after coming to power, he said.
