nspired by the recent blockbuster ‘Baahubali’, a number of pandals across the city depict Ganesh idols carrying Shiva lingam on their shoulders.

Fans of Prince Mahesh Babu in Old Town area gave life to a Ganesh statue in a dancing pose. Sporting an orange T-shirt with a black pull-over and blue jeans, the look appeared to be complete with a red-colour cloth tied to the forehead of the God to celebrate the star’s latest movie Srimanthudu .

While movie-based concept continues to be the centre of attraction, many have come up with innovative themes at various pandals spread across the city to mark Ganesh Chaturthi.

With a combination of green and blue, a pandal in Old Town Area near fishing harbour brings out peacock theme in a vibrant manner. For a change, lord Ganesh dons peacock feathers on his head.

Ganesh as a fictional superhero the Hulk and a farmer ploughing a field charms the younger crowd at a couple of pandals erected in Old Town area.

Devotees queued up to have a glimpse of the 80-foot idol of Ganesh specially designed at Gajuwaka. Keeping the on-going Brahmotsavam at Tirumula in view, the huge statue dons Lord Venkateswara avatar, flanked by Sanku and Chakram along with an intricately designed crown. Another attraction here is the 8,300 kg laddu prepared to gain an entry into Guinness Book of Records by a popular sweet maker from Tapeswaram in East Godavari district.

Holding a huge mace, the 111-foot tall statue of Ganesh, claimed to be the tallest one in Andhra Pradesh, attracts the visitors at Vinayaka Nagar, Gajuwaka. Sporting a casual shirt and a dhoti, lord Ganesh appears to be busy reading a newspaper, while his vahanMooshik dons the role of a cop, guarding his lord’s house near Fishing Harbour. In another pandal, a team of underwater workers brought out an aquatic theme through their creation of idols.
