Four tourists from Chhattisgarh drowned in Godavari

Four tourists including a woman from Chhattisgarh drowned when they ventured into river Godavari to swimion Saturday.

Polavaram police said that ten tourists from Jagadalpur of Bastar district, Chhattisgarh reached Papikondalu tourist spot on Friday night and stayed in cottages in Sivagiri.

Four others who said that they know swimming went more further into the river and were drowned. Fishermen and other villagers who rushed to the spot jumped into river and tried to save them with no success.

They were identified as Mohan Rathi (46), Sivangi Rathi (25), Ankith Rathi (16) and Jagadeesh Rathi (40).Thebodies were sent to Polavaram for postmortem.
