Floor leader of the Congress in the Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of dividing the country along caste lines and playing vote bank politics, while the Congress was still trying to unite people.

He was addressing the gathering after receiving the Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Puraskar from the hands of All India Congress Committee General Secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Digvijay Singh here on Monday. He said this was evident from the way poets and writers were returning awards given to them, adding that it was also clear that Hindus wanted communal harmony.

The function was held to mark the occasion of the silver jubilee of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s hoisting a flag on this day here. Mohd. Ali Shabbir, K. Jana Reddy N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Ponnala Lakshmaiah and G. Niranjan Reddy were present.
