Former Gajuwaka MLA Chintalapudi Venkataramaiah has resigned from the primary membership of the Jana Sena Party (JSP).

While citing personal reasons for his resignation in the letter sent to party founder Pawan Kalyan, he said on Sunday that he was not happy with the style of functioning of the leadership.

Mr. Venkataramaiah, who was elected as MLA on Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) ticket in 2009, told The Hindu that he had campaigned actively for the victory of Mr. Pawan Kalyan in the elections.

“I had nursed my constituency very well and established good contact with the voters. Unfortunately, I was asked to contest from Pendurthi as Mr. Pawan Kalyan was keen on becoming an MLA from Gajuwaka,” he said. Mr. Venkataramaiah said he was instrumental in enrolling 60,034 members out of 79,000 who joined. He said the party failed to live up to people’s expectations.
