The State government on Wednesday said the bi-weekly international flights in the Vijayawada-Singapore sector will commence on December 4.

Tickets will be sold from October 26 by the airline, IndiGo, with which the State’s Airports Development Corporation Limited entered into an agreement. In a release, media advisor (CRDA) to the government A. Chandra Sekhara Reddy said, “Though the initial plan was to commence the service on October 25, the disagreement between the Department of Customs and the AAI on the expenditure and arrangement of infrastructure for setting up the customs operations led to delay in receipt of the regulatory approvals.”

With the approvals received only a few days prior to the schedule, the airline, which needed confirmation well in advance, was unable to start the operations in the sector at short notice, he said.

IndiGo would deploy the 180-seater, Airbus A320, in the sector.
