In a gory road accident, five persons from Tamil Nadu were killed when the car in which they were travelling collided head-on with a lorry at Kadapalle village of Shantipuram mandal of Kuppam assembly constituency on Tuesday evening.
According to the Kuppam police, the deceased, identified as Rangappa (60), Mohan Kumar (37), Sekhar (47), Munaswamy (64) and Lakhsmi (50), residents of Mariyamman Koil Street of Old Dharmapuri, were returning home after procuring country medicines at Virupakshipuram of Baireddipalle Mandal — between Kuppam and Palamaner.When the car reached the narrow stretch of the road, it collided with a lorry, which was on its way from Hosur in Tamil Nadu to Proddatur in Kadapa districtof Andhra Pradesh. The impact left three persons killed on the spot and two others on their way to area hospital at Kuppam.
The police from Rallabuduguru, V. Kota and Kuppam rushed to the spot and confiscated the lorry.
The bodies were shifted to area hospital for autopsy. A case has been registered and the lorry driver arrested.
