Five die in accident near Garikapadu checkpost


All the victims are from Telangana

Five passengers died when a speeding car in which they were travelling collided with another car near Garikapadu checkpost on the national highway under Jaggayyapeta Police Station limits in Krishna district on Sunday morning. All of them are in the age group of 25 to 30 years and belonged to Telangana.

Jaggayyapeta Sub-Inspector B. Raju told newsmen, “The car that was heading from Hyderabad to Vijayawada collided with another car after it had hit the divider. None of the passengers travelling in another car was hurt.”

Four of the victims have been identified as Nagapothu Gopayya (driver), Sheik Mansoor, Mattapalli Bhima Reddy, and Pothula Bheema Reddy, who was declared brought dead. Another person died while undergoing treatment in a hospital in Vijayawada.

“The bodies have been sent to the government hospital in Jaggayyapeta for post-mortem. A case has been registered and investigation is on,” said Mr. Raju.
