Fear stalks TDP leaders on seat sharing

April 09, 2014 12:27 am | Updated November 17, 2021 05:46 am IST - VIZIANAGARAM:

The reported decision of TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu to allot Gajapathianagaram Assembly, in the seat-sharing agreement to BJP will only favour either the sitting MLA Botcha Appala Narasaiah or YSRCP candidate Kadubandi Srinivasa Rao.

These fears stalk TDP senior leaders in the district. “We are not against alliance. But, Gajapathinagaram is not the right seat for the BJP. We are ready to sacrifice Parvathipuram (SC) for BJP.

The present decision is suicidal. We have already informed about it to our party president. The seat sharing must be beneficial to both BJP and TDP,” said D. Jagadish, the party district president. Moreover, it would impede prospects of P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, who is likely candidate for Vizianagaram parliamentary constituency, he added.

In the Assembly elections 2009, Mr. Botcha Appala Narasaiah (Congress) polled 66,670 votes, Padala Aruna (TDP) 38,996.
