June 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - MACHILIPATNAM:

Scripting a red letter day in the journey of a Facebook group, Bandar Bandhuvulu (BB), the administrators of the group on Friday registered a Trust on its name for all-round development of the port town.

Visakhapatnam-based Kanchi Seshagiri Rao, one of the founders of the social networking group in early 2011, and Kanth Jonnalagadda of Machilipatnam will lead the Trust with respective involvement by the active members of the group. The Facebook group has above 10,000 active members who discuss about all aspects of life in Machilipatnam from across the globe on the online platform, sharing individual views.

“The Trust is completely apolitical, striving to contribute its due share for the development of Machilipatnam. The members of the Trust will coordinate the government departments to execute eco-friendly practices and development models,” reads the deed of the trust.

Speaking to The Hindu , Mr. Seshagiri Rao said that the Trust would play a pivotal role in spreading the traditions, cultural practices and the rich history of the town.
