Chief Minister N. Chadrababu Naidu has asked for constitution of a Cabinet sub-committee to ensure grand success of the F1h2O powerboat race proposed to be held for the first time on Krisha River waters in November. The sub-committee will be represented by Ministers of Tourism, Irrigation, Home, Municipal Administration and Fisheries.
Mr. Naidu met representatives of 30 different departments who would be coordinating for smooth conduct of the three-day event from November 16.
Secretary, Department of Tourism, Mukesh Kumar Meena, submitted a report on the proposal and responding to it, the Chief Minister said the event should be organised in a manner that it attracts the world’s attention to Amaravati. He said he would review the situation every 10 days.
Mr. Meena informed that the 500-odd participants would comprise 10 teams, each of them represented by 50 members. Elaborate arrangements were being made for nearly 1 lakh viewers and the seating space would be segregated into VVIP, VIP, media and other category galleries and nearly 4,500 rooms had been booked in hotels located in Vijayawada and Guntur cities to accommodate the visitors.
He said contests would be organised in colleges to spread awareness on F1h2O sport.
‘Make arrangements’
Reminding the officials of the ‘larger than the expected’ crowds at the time of Krishna and Godavari Pushkarams, the Chief Minister asked officials not to leave anything to chance and make arrangements for at least three lakh people at the venue.
He said the guests coming from across the nation and outside should be taken good care of, youth and students should be made active part of the event, people of the State should be made to realise the important of water resources through this platform and the series of cultural programmes presented on the occasion should reflect the rich heritage and culture of Andhra people and the entire city should be decked up for the special occasion.
Absence of the Health Secretary in the review meeting angered Mr. Naidu who asked the Irrigation Secretary Sashibhushan Kumar to keep the river clean.
Chairman of Malaxmi Group, the local organiser of the event, Harishchandra Prasad, CEO Sandeep Mandava, Director of the Department of Language and Culture D. Vizai Bhaskar and Special Officer for Shilparamam Jairaj were present.
