Extra coaches added to trains to clear rush

The South Central Railway on Monday announced the augmentation of capacity in 14 daily express trains during the festival season, between October 7 and November 16.

A whopping 80,640 seats have been generated by attaching two additional second-class chair car coaches to each of the trains, according to an official release.

The trains include nos. 12747/12748 Guntur-Vikarabad-Guntur Palnadu Express, nos. 12713/12714 Vijayawada-Secunderabad-Secunderabad Satavahana, nos. 12711/12712 Vijayawada-Chennai-Vijayawada Pinakini, nos. 12718/12717 Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam Ratnachal, nos. 12706/12705 Secunderabad-Guntur-Secunderabad Intercity, nos. 17023/17024 Secunderabad-Kurnool-

Secunderabad Tungabhadra and nos. 17639/17640 Kacheguda-Akola-Kacheguda Intercity Express.

Railway personnel nab two for theft

The Railway Protection Force personnel nabbed S.K. Ahmad and Mamidipala Mohan Rao, two mobile phone thieves, at Vijayawada, when they tried to steal the phone of a passenger – Sira Satish, while he had kept it on charge at a point on platform no. 5.

According to a press release, Mr. Satish was waiting for his train at about 9 a.m., on Sunday, when the two alleged offenders picked up his mobile phone and attempted to escape.

Alert squad

A watchful head constable of the Crime Prevention and Detection Squad, P.A.S. Narayana, caught both of them and promptly handed them over to the Government Railway Police, Vijayawada, who registered a case.
