Exclusive constituencies for SCs, STs sought

It is an unfulfilled wish of B.R. Ambedkar, says Dalit leader

Dalit Bahujan Sramika Union State general secretary P. Chitti Babu on Tuesday said that downtrodden sections of society would get a legitimate share in politics when exclusive constituencies were created for them. He said that only Dalits should be given the voting right in those constituencies and it was the wish of B.R. Ambedkar.

At a roundtable here to discuss the political future of Dalits, he said that leaders of other sections were dominating in the constituencies reserved for SCs and STs since everyone was provided a voting right in those segments.

“Due to Puna pact in 1932, Ambedkar’s ideas were not implemented. Now it is time for protection of the political rights of SCs and STs,” he added.

Ambedkar Porata Samiti convener Soru Sambayya, Bhimrao Dalita Rakshana Seva Samiti president B. Bhanumurthy and others were present.
